Post#6  of my English Class: Day as a tourist

I spent two days as a tourist with my best friend Laura Y. Torres which is also part of the Journey in Literature class. The first day I wear a jean with a shirt and sunglasses, and after the classes we started our first day as tourists. First, we enter to the Puerto Rico's primary educational institution in my friend's car. We asked to the guard where we might park in order to visit the Zoology Museum and he did not realized that we were students. He give us a really nice treatment, he let us park really close to the museum and also said: "Have a nice day." We were surprise because most of the time the guards treat us (the students) really bad, they not even talk sometimes, they just yell.

Then, when we arrive to the Museum the visit hours were already over, but we knocked up and they let us in. They were really nice, the guide was wonderful he explained to us with specific details. I was impress by the fact that they have such a big collection of animals that are found in Puerto Rico. I like a lot a monkey and a boa they had it, they were very well preserved. After the visit we go to a restaurant named 'El Mexicano' which made Mexican food in Puerto Rican way and it was good. Then, we were invited to a concert in the university and we go. At first, it was a group named La Quilombera which personally I did not like it, but then there was another Puerto Rican rock band that is well-known and is called La Secta. This last group were awesome and we really enjoyed the music diversity of Puerto Rico.
The second day we wanted to spend it in the two more touristic places in Puerto Rico: Old San Juan and Isla Verde. First, we go to a Medicine School conference in Embassy Suites Hotel at Isla Verde with our parents. After that, we stay at the hotel for a while. We drank a frappe and ate some chicken wings at the bar. I was watching the other tourists and enjoying the environment and we were treated so nicely.
After all of that we visit the other touristic place that is Old San Juan. Initially, we look at some beautiful buildings and I notice that most of the people there were just tourists. Then, we arrive to Lupi's Restaurant with our families. We go there and we had a great time. I ate a 'mofongo' that was filled with chicken and some breaded chicken, and all of that were delicious. We talked for a long time and we were treated really well too.
In conclusion, I had a really great time as a tourist. Also, I think that the people treat the tourist better. I went to places that I had never visit before and that I did not know they exist. I enjoyed the experience a lot, I felt like a real tourist and liked it. As a tourist, I would say that Puerto Rico is a great island with beautiful places, delicious food and great music. Also, I would visit again to enjoy some other places.

  1. Nice job, Eliz. I am delighted that you and your friends went around the island as tourists. How interesting that you were able to convince guards and others that you were for someplace besides the local area. Maybe you were seen as internal tourist. Send the links via my gmail because this was from blogger noreply and went into my trash. You have a lot of information on your blog - it's interesting and dynamic. Fine job!
